Northwest AEA Online Resources
In addition to the nine online resources provided by Iowa AEA Online, Northwest Area Education Agency is providing one additional online resource to all of the teachers and students served by us.
TrueFLIX is an online product from Scholastic that pairs short nonfiction videos with related nonfiction books. The license is for simultaneous access, meaning many may view the same video or read the same ebook title at the same time. TrueFLIX was created for students in grades 3-5, but all PreK-12 students and teachers will have access. We've provided a brochure that will give you additional information about TrueFlix. If you'd like to view/read the brochure, you can do that as well. Simply click on the click to read button. If you have questions, please let us know.
Wilbor, a cooperative project between libraries in Iowa, provides audiobooks for Northwest AEA teachers and students. An audiobook is a digital version of a recorded reading of a book. Wilbor is powered by OverDrive. OverDrive Audiobooks use the Microsoft® Windows Media Audio format. To access the audiobooks you will need a personal computer with Windows 98 or later; your barcode/user ID from Medianet; OverDrive Media Console (free media software); and Windows Media Player. OverDrive Media Console is a free, fully integrated, and easy-to-use software that handles all aspects of your download audiobook experience. If you'd like to know more about Wilbor, you can contact Debby Berthelsen at our Sioux City office. To get started, you might also find this video helpful as well.
